Initially championed by Mars, the augmentation movement spread throghout the galaxy in the wake of the UCN's collapse. The augmentation movement is most prominent in the Martian Domain and the Helghast Empire. Smaller factions and nations have also developed their own styles of augmentations.
Augmentation is a catch-all term for modifications that improve the capabilities of, or repair physical injury to an organic body, as well as internal alterations to improve mental capacity or body function.
Martian Design[]
The original augs, and the most advanced, come from Mars. Originally designed as medical prosthetics, Martian augs evolved over time to serve more varied purposes; Combat, industrial utility, and technological interface improvements can be implanted into or connected in place of existing limbs. Neurological augmentations can range from basic communications implants to total strategic analysis nets. In 2410, a new style of augmentations were introduced on Mars: HoloTech. Based on the tangible holoemitters used in Martian clubs and military facilities, HoloTech allows an augmented individuals to manifest and manipulate "hardlight" holograms. This has lead to widespread adoption of HoloTech in the entertainment industry and by the Mars Defence Forces.

Imperial cybernetic and genetic alterations are the most advanced military enhancements in the known galaxy. Helghast cybernetics are extremely prevalent amongst its' military and veteran population, and otherwise are not very common among their people. The helghast employ a large veriety of limb and organ replacements, nerve-system alterations and psychological changes to dramatically enhance each individual soldiers' killing capability. While these enhancements lead to an unprecedented increase in combat effectiveness, Helghast cybernetics rarely if ever factor in the soldiers' life after their service is done. With we-wired nercous systems, bladed limbs and unnatural strength, most helghast veterans find readjusting to civilian life all but impossible.
