The Mons Weapons Labs, officially Olympus Mons Research and Development Campus, Weapons and Ordnance Section, is the primary weapons development facility in the Mars Coadjuvant Domain.
Formation and UCN service[]
The Mons Weapons Labs initially opened in 2102, seven years into Mars colonization, as a military Research and Development facility for the UCA. MWL was responsible for the design, development, and testing of all weapons fielded by the UCA beginning in 2110, and continuing until the end of the Second Extrasolar War and subsequent collapse of the UCN.
Mons Weapons for the Domain[]
In 2361, Mons Weapons began the design, development, and testing of the first generation of Martian weapons, focusing on the high-precision nature necessitated by a government intent on humanitarian work. While most MWL projects remain classified under Title 1, Mons Weapons have released a number of their past, and ongoing developments.
Particle Weaponry[]
MWL chose to develop weapons based on the particle acceleration technology used in most Martian labs, and basing their development path on the work of Earth militaries in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. The first result was a large, starship mountable particle weapons system, now known as VPEN Mk I. Subsequent development has yielded higher output, more efficient starship weapons, as well as low-yield, man portable weapons, suited for infantry use.
